The Pipe Organ

DSC_1144

The Austin Organ (Hartford CT) Opus 2462, was installed during the summer of 1967.  Installation was under the direction of Mr. Arthur Probst and tonal finishing was under the direction of Mr. David Broome and Mr. Probst.  The Director of Music at that time was Mr. Lee Malone.  There are 4 divisions: Great, Swell, Positiv and Pedal.  The specifications are listed below.  The console is 3 manuals and recently was installed with Peterson Solid State action.  The manual and pedal is MIDI ready which enabled us to install the ALLEN ENSEMBLE unit from the Allen Organ Company.  This provides an already complete instrument of pipes the ability to access  128 realistic General MIDI voices and 94 unique Allen-sampled sounds ranging from theatre organ sounds to a wide variety of classical stops.  These sounds include several Tuba/Trumpet stops, solo stops and 32’ reed and flue stops.  When the present building was built there was an organ.  There is no record of what company installed it, but some say it was built by the Roosevelt Company, famous for their organs in the late 19th century.  Whatever it was, it was rebuilt by the M. P. Moller organ company of Hagerstown MD in 1935.  This organ replaced that one.
