BBPC’s Mission/Service Project: “KC”
Kid’s Connection Mission Project
Our Mission is to provide a safe, positive option once a month for 4th through 6th grade children in the Bound Brook area who are potentially at-risk for encountering challenging life circumstances either now or in the future. Some children may live in poverty and not have enough food, some may have difficult family situations and others may eventually be targeted by drugs or gangs in their neighborhoods or at school. Some may simply be lonely. We will provide a meal along with the opportunity for socialization, physical activity and creative development in a safe environment. We hope to empower children to make healthy, positive choices in their lives, to feel affirmed and to believe in themselves.
The Program: 1st Wednesday of Each Month from 6 pm to 8 pm
in the PFC (Presbyterian Fellowship Center)
Gathering Time 6:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Dinner 6:30 pm – 6:50 pm
Group Project 6:50 pm – 7:30 pm
Choice of Activities 7:30 pm – 8:00 pm (Either physical activity or creative activity)
(A Help Room will be open from 6 pm to 8 pm. If a child needs to talk to someone about a difficult day, a particular struggle they are going through, or if they just need some help with homework, they can go to the help room at any time.)
We will need lots of volunteers in the coming year. You don’t have to commit to every month to volunteer. Just sign up for when you can come!
WAYS TO HELP:
Meals Physical Activities
make desserts ahead of time lead a game or basketball, soccer,
set up and/or clean up volleyball or other activity
Cook or be a helper
Creative Activities Help Center
art, crafts, woodworking, music, help with homework
drama, dancing, other ideas? Be there to listen
Note: All volunteers will have to sign our “no sexual misconduct” policy. All volunteers age 18 or older will need to give us basic information that we can use for a simple “background check” from a secure provider used each year for ASP volunteers. The cost will be between $9 and $15. If you can pay for your own, it is helpful, but we will find funds when they are needed.
