The Church Has Left the Building

“Don’t just GO to church, BE the church!”

October 7 & 8

The Mission and Outreach Commission will once again be sponsoring The Church has Left the Building.  Thanks to the generous leadership of our church members, there are a variety of projects you can join.  We are so thankful to Pastor Nancy for creating this outreach to our own communities and for her leadership over the past 3 years of the project.   In September we will have signup sheets for you to choose a project and commit to work from 5-6 on Saturday night or from 9-12 on Sunday morning.

Projects this year will include sewing infant caps, assembling health kits for the VA Hospital, cleanup at Oak Spring Camp, craft time with children at the Agape House (homeless shelter in Somerville), yard cleanup at the Agape House, Sunday school craft for veterans, painting at Learning Gate pre-school.  We may also be helping at a home for developmentally challenged young adults.

One new project is making personal care kits for veterans at the VA Hospital in Basking Ridge, NJ.  We will start collecting supplies in August through September.  Items needed are: toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, shampoo and deodorant. Please leave these items in the box marked VA Hospital in Fellowship Hall.

There will be one more opportunity to serve this Sunday October 8 for The Church Has Left The Building.  Gail Smith will be organizing a group for gardening activities around the church grounds.  If you are interested in this opportunity, please arrive on Sunday with gloves and (optionally) tools such as rakes, clippers, and shovels.

A sign-up sheet is in the Reception area.
